Sprinkler Density & Coverage Planner
Estimate sprinkler count, design flow, coverage, and water demand.
Open ToolFree fire fighting water tank calculation for sprinkler tank sizing, hose demand, hydrant demand, usable reserve, refill allowance, and early fire protection planning.
This fire fighting water tank calculation estimates required fire water storage from sprinkler demand, hose allowance, hydrant demand, duration, usable tank volume, and accepted refill. It is useful for early sprinkler tank sizing, pump room coordination, civil tank planning, and tender checking before full hydraulic design is complete. Engineers can use it to compare NFPA-style and GCC civil defense planning assumptions, then download a branded report with inputs, results, warnings, and methodology. The result is not a substitute for authority-approved hydraulic calculations, hazard classification, pump curves, tank compartment rules, suction arrangements, or local civil defense requirements. Use the sample first, then adjust duration, usable reserve, and refill assumptions to see which parameter controls the final fire water tank capacity.

Formula logic, use cases, assumptions, and limits for this tool.
Use this to check tank capacity during early design and tender stages. Do not mix unusable dead storage with effective fire reserve.
This tool provides a planning-level result. It does not replace detailed engineering design, approved software, manufacturer data, authority requirements, or project specifications.
Read the recommendation, warning, and confidence sections together. A result without warnings is still not an approval; it only means the entered values did not trigger built-in planning alerts.
Fire water tank sizing is controlled by demand flow, required duration, usable storage, refill assumptions, hose allowance, hydrant demand, and local authority approval.
These notes explain what each input means and which values usually produce a more reliable planning result.
Selects the planning profile used for conservative defaults. Use the project authority or client standard where known; otherwise use the closest regional profile. Options: GCC/Civil Defense planning, NFPA planning.
Sprinkler system water demand. Use hydraulic calculation demand or approved preliminary hazard-class estimate.
Hose stream or hose allowance demand. Use authority/NFPA/project requirement for duration and simultaneous flow.
Hydrant water demand. Use local civil defense, NFPA, or authority requirement for simultaneous outdoor/indoor demand.
Required operating time. Fire systems may use 30-120 minutes depending hazard and authority; water storage may use daily reserve periods.
Percentage of tank volume that is usable after freeboard, dead storage, suction level, and practical operating limits.
Water refill rate during the event. Use reliable incoming supply capacity only if authority/project allows it.
Tank volume is based on total fire demand x duration minus accepted refill, divided by usable storage percentage.
Inputs are treated as planning assumptions. The calculator shows warnings when entered values fall outside practical thresholds or selected standard-profile limits.
Stage 2 roadmap: optional saved projects, dashboards, and shared calculation history without forcing login for free use.
Every result includes assumptions, warning logic, and a downloadable report. Final engineering decisions still need qualified review, local authority approval, manufacturer data, and project specifications.
Use the sample data button to load a realistic scenario, then download the PDF report to review inputs, results, methodology, warnings, and disclaimers in one place.
